School days

This time of year always makes me nostalgic for the good old days, when we had to walk to school, and carry all our books in our arms (because backpacks hadn't been invented yet), and dinosaurs roamed the earth.

These are some of my old school supplies who've survived decades in various drawers and bins. I can't help wondering what remains of some 3rd grade math problem or 7th grade spelling assignment are still clinging to these.

The acquisition of that art gum eraser signified my upgrade to being a 'real artist'.
I know I also had colored pencils like that last "peely" eraser. Does anyone else remember those?

** These are now all for sale in my etsy shop - both the originals, and prints. They're all ACEO size  2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Illustration Friday - Obsession

**  Update  **

Because I truly am obsessive, I worked on the alphabet some more. I just wasn't satisfied with it. It wasn't there yet.
And now I think it is.

This week's Illustration Friday prompt is ~

You know I had to draw the whole alphabet after I did that other "PAULA DREW THIS" piece the other day.

I did these more "illustrative" than the other ones, which were more realistic. More of an idealized version, rather than individual cracker portraits.

I've had a lot of obsessions in my day. Shoes (more specifically, black boots), white pitchers (which I still have), a boy or two here and there, finding the perfect club sandwich (Westlake Joe's does a pretty good one), cheap Chinese from the hole-in-the-wall places on Clement, hoity toity real estate, and now, its seems, a lot of square things.
I wonder what's next?
